Analysis Of The Main Themes In The Movie No Country For Old Men

Ethan and Joel Coen directed No Country for Old Men. They are instantly iconic because of their message. These messages can become so ingrained that you’ll only need to watch the movie one time and they will be a part of your life forever. These themes are what make No Country for Old Men such a powerful and detailed movie. This film’s three main themes are greed and violence.

Llewelyn Moss stumbles on a bad drug deal right at the beginning of this movie. He then takes the two million dollar that is left, sealing his fate. The signs of Moss’ greed are evident when Carson Wells writes, “I think this isn’t where you wanted it to be.” Moss took the money and didn’t realize the consequences. Now he is concerned about Anton Chigurh, who is after Moss. Even Chigurh is consumed with greed. His goal is to acquire the money and make a profit. Chigurh is so determined he wants the money that Moss says to him, “You bring me my money and I’ll let she go.” If she doesn’t, she will be held responsible just like you. This is the best offer you will get. “I won’t tell ya that you can save yourself, because you can’t.” Chigurh will kill Moss’s wife to get the money. Greed can bring out the worst traits in people. It brought out a strong desire and fear in Chigurh. Anton Chigurh represents death in a variety of ways, including brutality and randomness. However, he also seeks to exact revenge on those who do not want it. Chigurh enjoys giving his victims an escape route by flipping a coin. If they are correct, they live. However, if incorrectly called, they die. The film features two coin flips. One involves an elderly man while the other is involving Llewelyn’s wife. The first coin flip is when the old man tells Chigurh that he doesn’t know what he’s calling it. Chigurh replies by saying that he knows. This is a very stressful scene between two strangers. One is intimidated, the other is calmly deciding his next move. Although the old man knows that the coin flip can be life-or-death for him, he still feels intimidated by Chigurh. After Chigurh found Carla Jean Moss in the first coin toss, the second involves her. The difference between these two scenes is that Carla Jean has a clear understanding of both the outcomes and the old man does not. Chigurh hears Carla Jean say to Chigurh, “I know exactly how it was going to end.” but she didn’t call for the coin. Chigurh decides to kill her anyway, even though she didn’t call the coin-toss. The coin tosses are based on the chance that the characters have accepted. Carla Jean married a man who was not in her family’s best interests and they had a happy marriage. He took the unintentional risk of her marrying him, and she died. This is a fantastic way to view the concept of fate and death.

The movie’s main theme is that nobody can stop the negative aspects of humanity, such as greed, violence, hatred or other forms of evil. This is the opposite of fate, which has everything predetermined. Chigurh, who is the embodiment human of fate, believes that every choice made in life leads to death. Chigurh states that the coin traveled 22 years for it to reach his location. Chigurh implies that this coin-toss has been decided since the beginning. Chigurh believes strongly in luck and chance as shown by his coin-tosses. Llewelyn Moss finds it difficult to accept his fate after he takes the money briefcase. However, he believes he can beat Chigurh and keep all the money. Carla Jean Moss is now accepting her fate. As you can see, she says that “The coin doesn’t have any say.” It’s all you.” She now knows her fate and Chigurh is going after her. Anton Chigurh, an unflinching fighter who can do anything, is a perfect example of fate.

No Country for Old Men has many important themes and messages. The movie shows the worst traits of people: greed, violence and hatred. Anton Chigurh embodies these undesirable traits. Chigurh is a glutton and will do anything to get what he wants.

The film’s most prominent themes are violence and greed. The movie’s morals will be remembered for a lifetime.
