The Immorality And Discrimination In The Lyrics Of Rap Music

Music is an integral component of many people’s daily lives. Music can influence our personality and even help us to be more creative. You can filter the music and lyrics that we listen to and make sense of our current world. Music can sometimes make us less aware, particularly among young people. The American music chart’s top-selling genre is Rap. It has been in the charts since the 1970s. This music is more informative, lyrical and creative and represents cultural perspective. These are also reasons I love this type of music. However, this music can be associated both with immorality as well as social discrimination based on social class. These aspects also influence my taste in Rap music.

Rap music is more about lyrics than it is melody, which is a stark contrast to pop music. Rap is a form of poetry and has creatively written lyrics. These elements make it easy for rappers communicate and share ideas. I find Rap music like “Licensed To Ill” by Beastie Boys to be a very interesting and diverse form of music. Although at this point may argue that the Rap tends to glorify the American violence, am still not enrolled in this school of thought, simply because there are good and bad rappers.Indisputably, most of the rappers such Snoop Dog, 50 Cent and Eminem are extremely talented. Nevertheless, many rappers are fluent and have good command of English. These are the reasons Rap is my favorite form of music. I have been trying to control my vocabulary since childhood. Think about Anatomy, which is a type of genre. It is fascinating to me that Rap is based on some of the most important literary devices: personifications, metaphors, poetic conceit, metonymy, and other literary devices. I find it amazing how they can manage all of these elements while changing their sound quickly.

The personal commentary of rappers is still a fascinating way to tell stories. Music allows rappers to emotionally share their “uneditated lives” and draw inspiration from me. J. Coles’s “For Your Eyes Only”, a song that is incredibly powerful, adds to the mix. The song is my favorite. New York magazine also featured it in 2010. Its emotional story about a deceased friend was also featured. Our society can be understood through the contributions of our rappers. This is also the reason rap music is popular across the globe and among all ages. Simply put, rap is my preferred form of music. It represents the cultural perspective.

However, critics point out that rap music can be immoral and discriminatory. Rap music is accused of propagating American violence. This has made the critics even more vocal. Due to my religious upbringing, I found myself paying attention to music that reflects my personal beliefs. The truth is that rappers don’t have the ability to choose the right words from their Spotify playlists or iTunes folders. Aside from being wealthy, rappers are also viewed as discriminators. At these points, I am confronted with a dilemma between music preference and personality. If the conflict continues, I fear that it will alter my opinion on rap music.
